Method of measurement

Population data from the United Nations correspond to mid-year estimated values, obtained by linear interpolation from the corresponding United Nations fertility medium-variant quinquennial population projections.

Method of estimation:

Life tables specifying all-cause mortality rates by age and sex for WHO Member States are developed from available death registration data, sample registration systems (India, China) and data on child and adult mortality from censuses and surveys. When no useable data from civil registration are available, the latest life table analyses of the UN population Division were used. Demoniators are the latest population estimates from the World Population Prospect, produced by the UN Population Division.
