Status as of 30 June 2019

Mali reported zero human cases and one infected dog during January–June 2019. 108 rumours reported and investigated within 24 hours.

 

 

Since 2002, a nationwide cash reward has been offered for the voluntary reporting of dracunculiasis cases. In 2018, the amount of the cash reward was increased from CFA 50 000 [about US$ 100] to CFA 200 000 [about US$ 350]. People are requested to report to the nearest health facility.

2018

Mali reported zero human cases and 20 infected animals in 2018 (18 dogs and 2 cats).

Of the 424 rumours reported and investigated, 400 (94%) were investigated within 24 hours.


2017

Mali reported zero human cases in 2017.

A total of 9 infected dogs and 1 infected cat were detected during the period June–October 2017, of which 7 infected dogs and 1 infected cat were contained.

Of the 424 rumours reported and investigated, more than 98% were investigated within 24 hours.
